Eye Splice with on end fixed

The Eye splice in single braid rope was a game changer for sailors and riggers alike. With the evolution in modern rope to the point where in many cases it is now stronger than wire it has shifted the skills you need to rig and maintain your boat. The good news is this has reduce the maintenance cost across many jobs via cheaper materials and while eliminating the requirement for expensive tools to complete the work. With a simple and affordable splicing kit and some dyneema rope you can be up and running in minutes by watching some of Bottom Up Boats easy to follow videos.

The eye or brummel locking splice is the simplest of way to create a secure loop in the end of your single braid rope. Most people learn to splice it where both ends of rope are free. When people try to tie it when one end is fixed or you are working from a spool of rope it can seem difficult to complete.

With this simple double loop trick you can learn to tie the eye splice in a couple of minutes allowing you to create splices on both end of your rope in any situation.

If you have not already learnt how to tie the eye or brummel splice when both end are free check out the following video to learn the one splice that everyone should know.
