Constrictor Knots
Constrictor knots are one of if not the most effective way to bind objects of
any shape, size and composition together. They should be considered semi
permanent in any use case you are tying them for due to the binding power of the
knot, locking tight after even light to moderate load is applied.
The single constrictor knot will serve you well for most applications, binding most items together with the combination of an over hand knot plus a locking loop over the top of it and the object you are binding.
In the rare situation where the single constrictor knot does knot hold you can upgrade to the double constrictor knot. The additional loop over the top of the base overhand knot should prevent even the finest and most slippery of ropes for moving under any level of load.
There are many use cases for the constrictor knot, it is especially useful in emergency situations as it can bind anything from rope or solid objects together. If you are using the constrictor knot to hang or seal a bag or other object which is not solid we would advise you to do so carefully as the bind tightens it can lock so tight that it can disfigures the item you are constricting. Use cases are only limited by your imagination, sharing some of the more widely used for you to consider and try :-

- Join two ropes together.
- Sealing the top of you spinnaker bag.
- Hanging any object from a fixed bag.
- Creating a jury rig out of broken spars in an emergency.
- Joining the rubber and rope sections of you spear gun.
- Tying up your sleeping bag or air bed for storage.
- Can act as a make shift cable tie.
- Can be used as a hose clamp when working on your engine.
Releasing either of the constrictor knots can be extremely difficult after,
even the lightest of loads is applied. If the knot has sat for a long time
or if heavy load has been applied then you will more than likely need
a spicing pick or in extreme cases a knife to undo the knot.
